Fight the Good Fight: From Vicar’s Wife to Killing Machine by Catherine Fox

July 23, 2015

FTGFI couldn’t put it down

It’s good to be reminded that clergy families are just as ‘normal’ as any others.

As one of the Liberal Catholics who she dubs ’70s hand-wringing’, it was good to see that evangelicals can cuss like the rest of us and aren’t all Harry potter-phobic.

It is very funny and very ‘human’ in turns.

Those who think that Christians are ‘weird’ should read this.

She asks what lessons judo can teach you about life. It’s touching surprising, gripping (in every sense) – and the funniest take on spiritual struggle.

How many other opportunities do vicars’ wives get to roll around the floor with sweaty blokes?

Her novels are starting to be called ‘Cassock Rippers’.

The author is married to Pete Wilcox, who was installed as Dean of Liverpool in September 2012. She said that this book was a way of getting in touch with “my inner tomboy.” After all, she is the mum of two sons aged 21 and 18.
